Trevor, tell us a little about yourself.
Well, I am originally from Spring, Texas (just north of Houston) but now live in a downtown loft in Houston. Every time I look out the window there is a damn parade going on to celebrate something; even Ground Hogs Day - you believe that??? I guess its okay, but I know that I will move somewhere else within a year from now, maybe L.A. or N.Y.
A little about me, my parents were divorced when I was about 4 so I had moved back and forth between the two countless amount of times. My mother was usually emotionally stressed, perhaps stemming from her childhood and being a single parent and my brother has a learning disability which required a lot of her time (no, he didnt ride the short bus), and my dad is a chronic alcoholic, who could rarely hold down a job. He knows that his drinking has kept us distant in the past and even the present. Sometimes he will jokingly admit that he's not an alcoholic but a drunk; "alcoholics go to meetings," he says.
The highlight of my Moms career was that she was a Police Officer for a few years and my Dad was associated with the original tour of the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, (pianist). From K-12th grade I attended a total of 13 different schools, and I guess that was the primary reason I didn't have very many friends growing up and I never knew what was going to happen next. For the most part, it wasnt rare for me to go without eating or to wear clothes that had holes, or drive around in hoopties, lol. This definitely makes me appreciate things much more now. I grew up very quick as a child, to help support my financially strained parents; I began doing yard work for the neighbors at the age of 8 to help "pay my way." I was always told at a young age that I should be a model, but I never really knew what that was. I knew that I wanted to be rich, so I could buy all the chocolate in the world, and now I stay as far away from it as humanly possible.
2. Tell us about your modeling experience and how you got started, and some of the perks of being a model?
I first started modeling when I was about 20 yrs old. My Mom and I had gone to this modeling agency here in Houston (Neal Hamil) to attempt to get my foot in the door. The agent told me initially that I would need to lose around 20 pounds of hard earned muscle in order to work with their company, but I wasn't willing. I was 220 lbs at the time and worked my butt off to attain it and wasn't going to give it up that easy. Just before I walked out the door, he stopped me and said that there was a photographer that he knew of that worked with guys in the fitness area and he would love my look. I eventually met up with this photographer (photobyaaron_msn.com) and to date have be associated with several mags etc. My very first test shoot made me extremely nervous; I was so shy, and contrary to what most people believe I had little to no confidence in myself, not even enough to pose in a speedo. My self esteem was shot down in my earlier years by my parents and I vowed to myself that I wouldnt be the victim of anyone elses criticism anymore, and withdrew from most all of my social activities. My photographer, was very patient with me and helped to mold me into someone that had the confidence level necessary to compete with the "big dogs." The best thing about modeling so far would have to be getting to meet all the awesome models and photographers and not to mention the exposure that one can get from all the publicity.
3. What is your greatest dream in regards to modeling? Which modeling agencies, fashion campaigns and designers would you like to work for and why?
In November of this year, I will be going back to N.Y. to do some more networking in regards to modeling and will visit some top agencies. I can't wait to see what they have to offer me and I would like to represent some kind of underwear company or even a clothing line for that matter. To be the face or representative for any fashion company would be a dream come true for just about anyone, and for me, that would be a mile stone, for sure!!
